Impressionist May

Perfume Review: Malia by Nobile 1942

Brand: Nobile 1942
Perfume Composer: Antonio Alessandria
Launched in: 2015

The Malia perfume, from the very first notes, exudes a sharp and acidic scent reminiscent of raspberry seeds and multi-fruitiness. There’s also a subtle undertone, akin to freshly laid cement or the chalky scent of limestone. It feels bright and juicy, yet distinctly chemical and biting. Personally, I associate it with neon pink or bright raspberry colors rather than the white hue of the bottle. The scent lingers on the skin; when applied at 8AM in the morning on my wrist, I still detect its base notes at 6PM in the evening. However, there was a time when I overapplied it, and it slowly drove me crazy due to its intensity and somewhat repulsive nature.

Taking into account all the pleasant aspects of Malia, it reminds me of Omnia Pink Sapphire by Bvlgari. This is what makes Malia interesting—it possesses a familiarity and popularity typical of luxury brands. On the flip side, there’s a persistent acidity that seems to drill into the olfactory receptors.

Overall, it’s an intriguing scent, but not quite my cup of tea.

The images generated in Bing Chat depict the visual associations I have when I hear the Malia perfume.
